Spanish is the second most spoken first language in the world, after Mandarin Chinese. Considered one of the most influential European languages, it is spoken in almost every Latin American country, as well as by 40 million people in the United States. Furthermore, as an international language, it is one of the 6 official languages of the United Nations.
However, learning a second language can be a lengthy project, which demands patience and motivation. Despite this, Spanish has been voted the third easiest language to learn for English speakers by Business Insider. What makes Spanish easier is that it only has 10 vowel sounds, instead of 20 in English for example. Moreover, the vast majority of words are pronounced as they are written.
The online resource Student Travel Planning Guide has recently announced that the demand for learning Spanish has risen dramatically. In fact, the number of people who are learning Spanish online has risen by 800% in the last 3 years.
